Kessler City Lofts are located in Downtown Atlanta and residents enjoy walking to many of Downtown’s attractions and can catch the MARTA rail and bus service within blocks of the front door. The Sam Nunn Federal Center and its dog park sit across the street; Atlanta City Hall, the Fulton County Courthouse and government administrative centers are one block away; shopping at the Underground Atlanta is just one block north; Georgia State University and the Fulton County Central Library are three blocks north as are the historic Broad Street restaurants and shops; the Georgia Dome and the World Congress Center are not more than ten minutes walk to the west, and the new Aquarium and World of Coke are also within walking distance…just to name a few!
Early permits and drawings date the building as one of the oldest still standing in downtown Atlanta. The building was the site of the original Davison-Paxon department store, which was bought by Macys in the 1920s and then moved uptown. From the 1930s to the 1990s, Kessler department store occupied the building. Today, the conversion includes six floors of condominiums and the ground floor was developed for commercial spaces. Most of the lofts here feature classical Doric columns, original maple and walnut floors and 16 1/2" ceilings. Many of the windows are more than 100 inches tall and much of the original interior brick is exposed to the interiors of the residential units. The residential units range from 1,000 to 2,200 square feet as one and two bedroom units.
