Rivets, railings, trusses...flowers Just a few miles south of your new rental home stands the Franklin-Orleans Bridge, considered among Chicago's most beautiful. Springing to life in 1920, this Trunnion Bscule (French for see-saw) is 62 feet wide with a 220-foot span that rises for passing boats. To this day the bridge retains its original railings, which have flowers etched into their panels. Back down the road a bit, you'll find that same high level of attention to detail, with newly rehabbed living spaces featuring hardwood floors kitchens with cherry wood cabinets and new appliances, as well as individual climate control and internet. There's more to love...including this fun tidbit: Batman Begins did many takes speeding across the Franklin-Orleans on its way to Gotham City.
