Rumor has it that when The Huntingdon was built the units didn't sell very quickly because of the troubled oil market. The developer was pressured by investors to drop the price but refused, in fact saying that he would buy and hold the units himself before he would lower the standards and price of the building. Whether true or just an urban legend, it has solidified The Huntingdon as one of the most stately addresses in Houston.
